Wheel sizes

NOTE – These wheel recommendations are based on RMS suspension with the listed brake kits – this list is not intended for any other suspension type.

On all cars the diameter and width of wheels and tires that fit are the same. But the wheel backspacing changes by car model and brake kit that is used.

Overall tire diameters should be 25-26” diameter in front and 26-28” diameter in the rear, regardless of the rim diameter. Taller than this can cause interference with fender and quarter openings and may require sheetmetal work to fit.

15” wheels will fit only with 11” brake kits and the limiting factor in width is the tie rod end. In all cars a 15 x 6” rim can be used, backspacing is 3”-3.25” using the Wilwood 11017 brake kit, while 4” backspacing can be used with the 8652 brake kit. In A body cars a 215/60/15 tire works, and in B and E body cars a 225/60/15 will work

We can accommodate the Vector wheels on Chargers by using the 8562 brake kit, and changing some parts in the kit – THIS IS BY REQUEST ONLY.

With 17” wheels backspacing needed is as follows, based on which brake kit is used.

A body

11017, 10440, 10742 Wilwood – 7” rims – 4”

                                                      8” rims – 5”

9801, 9802 Wilwood --------------7” rims – 4.5”

                                                     8” rims  - 5.5”

ALL Baer brakes ----------------- 7” rims – 4.25"

                                                    8” rims – 5.25"

B body

11017, 10440, 10742 Wilwood – 7” rims – 3”

                                                      8” rims – 4”

9801, 9802 Wilwood --------------7” rims – 3.5”

                                                     8” rims  - 4.5”

ALL Baer brakes ----------------- 7” rims – 3.25"

                                                    8” rims – 4.25"

E body,

11017, 10440, 10742 Wilwood – 7” rims – 3”

                                                      8” rims – 4”

9801, 9802 Wilwood --------------7” rims – 3.5”

                                                     8” rims  - 4.5”

ALL Baer brakes ----------------- 7” rims – 3.25"

                                                    8” rims – 4.25"

With 18”+ plus, 9” wheels can also be used in front as shown below. 9” wheels are pushing inside and outside clearances so the backspace numbers are slightly different.

11017, 10440, 10742 Wilwood – 7” rims – 4”

                                                      8” rims – 5”

                                                      9” rims – 6”

                                                    9” rim -   5.25"

It’s important to note that sheetmetal on these cars can vary quite a bit and it’s always recommended to measure your exact car for wheels when using larger sizes, as clearances can vary.

B and E cars can also use 10” wide wheels in front but clearances are tight so you MUST measure your own car to determine the best backspacing.

The above numbers provide good clearance for street driving.
